Thirteen (13) suspected migrants were recently sighted and apprehended after being found on Little Inagua by Operation Bahamas Turks & Caicos (OPBAT) on May 12, 2024.

The migrants were believed to have arrived in Bahamian waters not too soon before and were awaiting transport. However, their plans were interrupted as their voyage ended in their capture.

The occupants were taken from the island by HMBS Kamalamee, who arrived some time after for their transportation to the main land, Matthew Town, Inagua on 13 May, 2024.

The 13 migrants were comprised of 9 males and 4 females. Further investigations are still underway. All individuals appeared to be in good health and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further processing.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to its mandate and the defence of our nation.
