Recently, Acting Sub Lieutenant Wellington Ramsey successfully completed the prestigious International Boarding Officers Course (IBOC) 2401, held at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).
The intensive course brought together participants from various nations, including Malta, Thailand, Panama, Gambia, the Philippines, and Cape Verde, highlighting its global significance in advancing Maritime Law Enforcement (MLE) capabilities.
Throughout the three-week training, participants were immersed in a comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance operational efficiency in maritime security. Critical topics covered during the course included: Ethical Conduct in Boarding Operations, Roles & Responsibilities of Boarding Teams, and an Understanding of Legal Authority and Jurisdiction in Maritime Settings.
The practical sessions focused on areas such as Advanced Boarding Procedures, Room Clearance, and Close-Quarter Combat, as well as Effective Use of Force and Secure Detainee Handling. Specialized training in the detection of radioactive materials and the enforcement of fisheries laws was also provided.
