In keeping with the Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent of joint operations with regional partners, an additional fifteen (15) Cuban migrants were later intercepted by the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter DAUNTLESS in the Cay Sal Bank area and handed over to crew members of HMBS Bahamas. This brings the total number of Cuban migrants apprehended on Wednesday 17 August 2022 to twenty-two (22), consisting of twenty-one (21) males and one (1) female as seven Cuban Migrants were retrieved off Anguilla Cay by Defence Force vessel HMBS Bahamas, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Sidney Whymms. The vessel arrived in the capital that evening, where the migrants were thoroughly assessed by RBDF officials before being turned over to the Immigration officials for further processing.
