The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) welcomed a courtesy call by the Adjutant General of the Rhode Island National Guard (RING), Major General Andrew J. Chevalier, at Defence Headquarters on 11 May 2026.
Major General Chevalier is a former Cramer’s Saber Battalion Cadet who commissioned early as a Second Lieutenant and has since built a distinguished military career marked by leadership, dedication, and operational excellence. Throughout his career, he has held leadership appointments at every level and completed multiple combat tours, earning recognition for his professionalism and commitment to duty.
Major General Chevalier, accompanied by his Executive Team, met with the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, and his Executive Leadership Team. Discussions focused on regional security cooperation, professional military development, disaster response coordination, and continued collaboration under the State Partnership Program. Both parties emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation in addressing shared security challenges.
Commodore Moxey expressed appreciation for the continued partnership and support of the Rhode Island National Guard, while Major General Chevalier reaffirmed his commitment to deepening collaboration and maintaining strong ties with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. Major General Chevalier also expressed his honour to have attended the solemn HMBS Flamingo Memorial Service and Wreath-laying Ceremony held on Sunday 10 May 2026, at Coral Harbour Base (CHB).
This year the talents of the Rhode Island National Guard’s (RING) 88th Army Band joined the RBDF Band in playing the ceremonial compositions, highlighting the continued and enduring friendship and collaboration that honours the memory of Able Seaman FENRICK STURRUP, Marine Seaman AUSTIN SMITH, Marine Seaman DAVID TUCKER, and, Marine Seaman EDWARD WILLIAMS.
Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, the RBDF is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, we reaffirm our commitment to the enduring relationship with the Rhode Island National Guard which enhances the effectiveness and capabilities of our personnel, assets and operational readiness.
