A delegation from The Bahamas, led by Commodore Raymond King, Commander of the Defence Force, alongside Force Chief Petty Officer Vaughn Ferguson and Commander Delvonne Duncombe, attended the Caribbean Nations Security Conference (CANSEC) 2024 from December 10-12 under the theme “Strengthening Bonds, Securing Futures: United for Regional Security.”

The delegation engaged in key bilateral meetings with representatives from the U.S. Southern Command, Trinidad and Tobago, International American Defence College, Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation and the Perry Center, focusing on transnational security threats, disaster response, and opportunities for collaboration. These discussions emphasized shared interests and set the stage for stronger partnerships across the region.

CANSEC 2024 also featured roundtable discussions on countering multi-domain threats with advanced technologies and enhancing regional disaster response mechanisms. The Bahamas delegation actively contributed to these sessions, aligning with the conference’s goal of fostering unity and innovation to address regional challenges.

The conference concluded with strengthened ties, new collaboration opportunities, and reinforced commitments to regional security. The Bahamian delegation’s participation underscores the nation’s leadership and dedication to building a secure and prosperous Caribbean.
