Author and former news reporter, Hadassah Deleveaux (née Hall) paid a courtesy call on Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King at Defence Headquarters on February, 21, 2023.During the visit, Ms. Deleveaux presented Commodore King with a copy of her new book ‘Over the Hill’. Being a former member of the ‘Big Pond’ community, she portrays Commodore King as one of the few great leaders that came from the prestigious community. She also reflected on an interview with Commodore King in 2020 at the RBDF base in which she was inspired by his testimony. Thus, she insisted on adding his story to her first, newly published book ‘Over the Hill’.Ms. Deleveaux mentioned that during the interview process, she got to pull back the curtain on fascinating lives, while in some cases, deepening her understanding of history. She noted that the story of Commodore King was one of her favorites, as it spoke of a young boy who came from humbled beginnings, sold newspapers to pay for lunch, uniforms and exams, yet who had such an indomitable spirit. In keeping with his strategic intent to develop a professional and high-performance workforce focused on performance excellence. Commodore Raymond King has laid the pathway of excellence himself by displaying skilled leadership and initiative during his tenure at the helm of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.(By Marine Seaman Tenaj Wallace)(RBDF Photos by Marine Seaman Tenaj Wallace)
