In keeping with the command’s campaign of organizational decentralization on the 14 July, Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King traveled to Gunn Point, Ragged Island to partake in a ceremony between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Royal Bahamas Police Force and United States Embassy along with the Minister of National Security, The Honorable Wayne Munroe Q.C and Charge’ d’ Affaires Ms. Usha Pitts.During this brief ceremony Ms. Usha Pitts gave her remarks to the Officers and Marines in attendance. Also the Captain of Southern Command Captain Michael Hanna expressed gratitude and thanks to her and the US Embassy for their donations of fuel trucks, washing machines and a generator to Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship Gunpoint. After the ceremony they further toured the island visiting Duncan Town where they conducted a walkabout and also visiting Ragged Island’s solar farm.Prior to the ceremony Commodore King accompanied the Minister of National Security Wayne Munroe Q.C, Commissioner of Police Mr. Clayton Fernander and the Charge’ d’ Affaires Usha Pitts on a brief helicopter tour of the island.In concluding their tour the members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force expressed their thanks and appreciation to Charge’ d’ Affaires Ms. Usha Pitts and the US Embassy Representatives.Also in attendance was the Base Executive Officer of Southern Command Lieutenant Commander Byron Brown, Force Chief Petty Officer Terrance Arnett, and other Representatives of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, along with Chief Counselor Mr. Alfred Francis and Representatives of the Royal Bahamas Police.
