Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King and Mrs. King accompanied by his Aide de Camp Lieutenant Commander Samantha Hart and Command Warrant, Force Chief Petty Officer Remone Storr, attended the official opening ceremony of the 44th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting on February 15, 2023, at the Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island. The high-level three-day event will encompass discussions between Caribbean leaders and top officials from the United States and Canada to highlight and address global issues facing CARICOM countries and the world.Prime Minister, the Honorable Philip Davis, KC, brought remarks at the event, which was also attended by former Governor General of the Bahamas, Dame Marguerite Pindling, former Prime Ministers of The Bahamas, Members of Parliament, government officials, and representatives of the public and private sectors. Additionally, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew and CARICOM Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett too brought remarks.Highlights of the evening included the presentation of the CARICOM Triennial Award for Women, awarded to the Right Honorable Dame Janet Bostwick for her role in the battle for full gender equality and a rendition of musical selections provided by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Band.
