The Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King in keeping with his strategic plan to bring greater awareness of The Defence Force and its role within the Bahamas, took on a speaking engagement at Bahamas Elite Sports Academy. As a part of their literacy week, the school invited a spectrum of speakers to impart knowledge to the students on different aspects of their careers including the advantages and disadvantages of these careers. The purpose of this was to introduce a variety of professions to the students and encourage them to remain focused, leading them to become productive and positive contributors to the Bahamian society. During his visit, Commodore King was able to enlighten not only the students but also the faculty and staff of Bahamas Elite Sports Academy about how diverse and rewarding the military career path can be. When asked about a key factor in joining the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Commodore King referred to joining the military as an honor that is given to those that aspire to serve and put God and country above themselves. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to “Guarding our Heritage” through opportunities like these where nation-building and community service are rendered generously to the future leaders of the country.
