The Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King, along with the Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and other State Officials joined the world in commemorating veterans of World Wars I and II on Thursday 11 November 2021, Armistice Day. Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day, marks the day World War I ended, at 11:00 a.m on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. This day is recognized by The Bahamas and countries throughout the British colonies to memorialize the veterans who served during World Wars I and II in the British Army.As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the British Legion-Bahamas Branch along with State Officials attended a scaled-down wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph, Parliament Street. Memorial wreaths were laid around the monument in reverent remembrance of the fallen.The Royal Bahamas Defence Force salutes the men and women who have made this immeasurable sacrifice and served with pride.
