Commander Defence Force (RBDF) visited North and Central Abaco for a series of meetings, facility inspections, and welfare checks with Defence Force personnel and local partners stationed on the island between October 3-5, 2024.
During the visit, Commodore Raymond King toured essential port facilities in Coopers Town and South Abaco. Ms. Ella Russell, Assistant Port Facility Security Officer, led a tour of the Coopers Town port, which is still under renovation. While there, she outlined the current state of the project and its future development. Later that day, Mr. Raymond Campbell, Port Facility Security Officer, provided a tour of the South Abaco port facility, offering insight into its current operations and security measures.
In addition to this, the trip also included a breakfast meeting at the Government Complex, where the Commodore met with local stakeholders to discuss collaborative efforts to address pressing concerns regarding the island’s security and development. Following this, Commodore King visited Spring City to conduct a welfare check on RBDF personnel stationed in the area, ensuring their well-being and operational readiness.
The trip concluded with a dinner and meeting with RBDF marines stationed in Abaco. This gathering provided an opportunity for open dialogue between leadership and personnel, fostering camaraderie and reinforcing the RBDF’s commitment to the welfare and efficiency of its team.
This visit highlights the Commodore’s strategic objective to ensure the Defence Force is involved in ongoing efforts to ensure the security of The Bahamas’ islands and to maintain a strong partnership with local communities and stakeholders.
