The COVID Team at Doctors Hospital, Blake Road facility, which included the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) was presented with tokens of appreciation by Family Guardian Insurance on Friday past, for their continual sacrifice.
Family Guardian (FG) noted that the partnership of medical and military personnel is an example of how Bahamians are truly – as our national pledge declares – “one people united in love and service”.
Ramona Neely, Vice-President of Home Service Sales (FG Representative) during the presentation expressed how grateful they are for essential workers. She said that the care packages, though small, are company’s way of sharing Thanksgiving in May, and that they are appreciative of those who put themselves at risk and sacrifice time with their families to assist during this global pandemic.
Charles Sealey, CEO of Doctors Hospital, in response to the gesture, noted that this was a demonstration by Corporate Bahamas showing that they care. He also emphasized that the set up and care rendered was all a collaborative effort.
The Defence Force has been involved in the planning for the setup of quarantine sites since the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, with most of its attention being paid to the security of these areas.
The security presence and posture for these facilities are under the directorship of the Commanding Officer of the Military Assistance to Civilian Authorities and Force Protection, Commander Fredrick Brown.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force has also assisted the effort by deploying cooks from the Supply Department, who provide regular meals to other essential workers in the fight against COVID-19.
