The body believed to be that of a boater who went missing on Saturday October 1, 2016 around 8:30 p.m. following a collision with a Royal Bahamas Defence Force vessel was recovered from the waters on Monday morning by Defence Force divers.

Two persons were on board a 13-foot fiber glass skiff when the accident occurred. One of the occupants was immediately rescued from the water by Defence Force personnel. However, the other individual was not found.

Immediately following the accident, a search of the surrounding areas and shorelines was conducted by various Defence Force patrol craft, along with a vessel from the Police Force’s Marine Unit. The search was later joined by BASRA volunteers, and local fishermen concluding on Monday morning with the recovery of a body believed to be that of the missing person.

The body was recovered by military divers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force in Nassau Harbour.
