The Royal Bahamas Defense Force hosts its Emergency Response training. The course provided comprehensive training in Search and Rescue (SAR) and crisis response operations. Instructors covered procedures for responding to fires, aircraft crashes, and urban search and rescue (USAR), with emphasis on structural assessment and damage evaluation. Personnel were taught how to distinguish between epidemics and pandemics, including quarantine procedures, equipment handling, and safety protocols.
Participants received fundamental training in wildland firefighting, focusing on fire behavior, suppression methods, water delivery systems, and operational safety. Emergency Response Teams were introduced to the protocols, strategies, techniques, and equipment required for Urban and Maritime Search and Rescue, Wildland Firefighting, and Field Operations during incidents, emergencies, crises, and disasters.
Considering that the RBDF plays a critical role in national and regional disaster response, the training emphasized proactive planning, cognitive leadership, and strategic execution in crisis management. Effective response depends on continuous monitoring, training, preparation, and realistic rehearsals rather than reactive measures. These directly support the Defence Force’s ability to respond effectively to hurricanes, wildfires, urban search and rescue operations, and other emergencies.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force under Commodore Moxey’s leadership, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, we remain steadfast in our mission to safeguard the nation, respond to emergencies, and support national resilience through preparedness, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
