Coral Harbour Base, 07 Jan. ‘17 (RBDF): New Entry 19 of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force paid a courtesy call on Commander Defence Force (Acting), Captain Tellis Bethel on Friday past.
It was 30 years ago that a group of 38 men joined the Defence Force as Marine Recruits on January 12. The officers and marines from this squad are currently observing this achievement with a month of activities. These include a family fun, run and walk event, a church service and a courtesy call on the Governor General.
In observance of their visit, the group of men presented Captain Tellis Bethel with a token of gratitude, as they discussed events of the past and plans for the future. Captain Bethel commended the men on behalf of all the Commanders Defence Force under whom they would have served and on behalf of himself for their many years of dedicated service. He also stated that their vital role as guardians of the Bahamian heritage has contributed immensely towards enhancing the safety and security of The Bahamas.
