In keeping with the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent of developing a professional and high-performance workforce focused on excellence and succession planning, Retired Chief Petty Officer Johnny Webb was presented with accolades during a farewell ceremony on the grounds of the Detention Centre facility, Carmichael Road on Friday, February 12, 2021.
After serving the organization for thirty-four years, the Senior Enlisted was recognized for his dedicated services during a brief ceremony held in his honour by Commanding Officer of the Military Police and Force Protection Unit, Commander Natasha Miller, and the Officers and Marines who serve in the department. Also in attendance was Superintendent of Immigration Peter Joseph.
Chief Petty Officer Webb officially retired from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force on November 24, 2020. He emphasized the importance of remaining united towards a common goal, and that the organization can achieve great success if the Officers and Marines work together. He also thanked the Defence Force for the many years of training and development that he received throughout his tenure.
Chief Petty Officer Johnny Webb was a member of Entry 18, having joined as a Marine Recruit on June 23, 1986. The departments in which he has served over the course of his career include Military Operations Platoon, Commando Squadron, Supply Department, Squadron Department, and the Military Police and Force Protection Unit.
One of his defining moment was in 1994 when The Bahamas was called upon to assist in the restoration of Democracy in Haiti. As a member of the RBDF 1st contingent in the CARICOM battalion in 1994, he joined fellow peacekeepers from several other countries that would be known as a Peacekeeping or Operation Uphold Democracy.
