A farewell courtesy call was held for Lieutenant Commander Matthew Spado, the US Coast Guard Liaison Officer for The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, at the Ministry of National Security Commander Defence Force Conference Room on June 4, 2024.
Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King during the meeting expressed his appreciation for Lieutenant Commander Spado’s dedicated service over the past two years.
Lieutenant Commander Spado has been a key factor in various joint operations, including migrant apprehensions, drug busts, and search and rescue missions. He shared his appreciation for the opportunity to work closely with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and described his time in The Bahamas as a rewarding experience. Commodore King and his team commended Lieutenant Commander Spado for his hard work and the strong partnership he helped cultivate between the US Coast Guard and the RBDF.
The courtesy call also introduced the new US Coast Guard Liaison Officer for The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, Lieutenant Connor Pascale. Lieutenant Pascale expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with the Bahamian government and the RBDF over the next two years. Commodore King welcomed him warmly, looking forward to continuing the successful partnership.
To mark the occasion, both Commodore King and Lieutenant Commander Spado exchanged tokens of appreciation. Lieutenant Commander Spado presented tokens to both Commodore King and Deputy Commander Defence Force Captain Shondell Pinder. Commodore King wished Lieutenant Commander Spado well in his future endeavors and expressed eagerness for the continued positive relationship with Lieutenant Pascale.
