On June 10, 2024, Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, accompanied by Force Chief Petty Officer (Retired) Fredrika King from the Family Support Organization, met with Leading Seaman Alamando Smith at the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Headquarters.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Morale, Welfare & Recreation Unit orchestrated a fire relief drive to support Leading Seaman Smith. This initiative was a success, showcasing the unity and support which exists within the RBDF. Smith received substantial support from many of his peers, particularly those in his current department, the Harbour Patrol Unit.
Leading Seaman Alamando Smith has been a dedicated marine for twenty years, joining the Defence Force on February 26, 2004. Throughout his career, he has been disciplined and hardworking, serving in various departments such as Commando Squadron, Transportation, Military Police Force and Protection, and currently, the Harbour Patrol Unit.
During the official presentation, Commodore King and Mrs. King joined by Lieutenant Commander Ruperthera Symonette, Commanding Officer of the Harbour Patrol Unit, and Force Chief Petty Officer Wilbert Gilbert presented the proceeds from the fire relief drive to Leading Seaman Smith. He then expressed his gratitude to all members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force for their support efforts and generous contributions.
Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond E. King, this event underscored the collective effort and commitment of the RBDF to support one of their own in times of need.
