Defence Headquarters, 25 JAN. ‘23 (RBDF): A joint effort by members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Immigration officials have resulted in the apprehension of Haitian migrants early this morning in Driggs Hill, Andros.

The RBDF Operations Department was informed by police officers on the island of a migrant landing at Driggs Hill, last night. The immediate response of patrol vessels and search party comprising of Infantry and Communications personnel (drone team) along with Immigration officers were dispatched to assist local police and community members. Additional personnel from the Commando Squadron and Immigration department were later transported via service aircraft.

Thirty-eight (38) out of the reported sixty (60) migrants were apprehended thus far, law enforcement agencies are currently conducting a thorough search in the immediate area for additional migrants.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to collaborating with local and international partner agencies, and the fishing community, while protecting the territorial integrity of The Bahamas and keeping our borders secured.
