On Sunday, January 8, acting on Intel from the US Coast Guard, HMBS Bahamas intercepted a total of 51 Cuban migrants (46 males, 5 females) near the Anguilla Cays in the Southern Bahamas. On Monday, January 9, an additional 9 Cuban Migrants (6 males, 3 females) were intercepted by HMBS Bahamas near the Cay Sal area.The migrants were transported to Defence Force’s Coral Harbour Base where they were screened by RBDF Medics, processed, and turned over to officials from The Department of Immigration. In recent times, HMBS Bahamas intercepted 53 migrants between December 29 – 31 near the Anguilla Cays.It is the intent of, Commodore Raymond King, through Operational Decentralization, to work closely with local law enforcement agencies as well as regional partners through joint operations and information sharing as a force multiplier to address current and potential challenges. The RBDF remains committed to guarding our heritage.
