Minister of National Security, the Hon. Myles Kentworth LaRoda M.P., conducted his first official tour of HMBS Coral Harbour on Friday, 19 June 2026.

The Hon. Minister was accompanied by Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, and his Executive Leadership. The tour provided firsthand insight of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s operations, capabilities, and modernization initiatives on board HMBS Coral Harbour. Captain Coral Harbour is Captain Sonia Miller OM.

The Hon. Minister visited several key departments and facilities across the Base and observed the day-to-day activities that support the RBDF’s mission of safeguarding The Bahamas’ maritime domain and national security interests.

For example, the Administration, Engineering & Technical Operations Department, Squadron, Base Supply, Commando Squadron, the Medical Facility, the Operations Center and the Planning/Sea Simulator, where personnel provided operational briefings and outlined their respective roles in maintaining Force readiness. The Hon. Minister also visited the Bahamas Military and Maritime Academy, where he interacted with New-Entry recruits, and observed the training environment, inclusive of dormitories.

The Hon. Minister also visited Coney Island, where personnel from the Communications Unit, Drone Academy, Transport Workshop, Capital Development Unit, Disaster Risk Management Unit, and the Container City showcased the critical support services and operational capabilities that enable the Defence Force to effectively execute its mission and mandate.

The Hon. Minister also viewed the progress on the construction of the new Supply Warehouse, a key infrastructure project designed to enhance the RBDF’s logistics, storage capacity, and operational efficiency. Demonstrations and briefings highlighted the Force’s growing use of technology, enhanced disaster response preparedness, and commitment to maintaining operational readiness.

The Hon. Minister LaRoda commended officers and marines for their leadership, professionalism, dedication, and service to the nation.

Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, the RBDF is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, we are excited to have the leadership of the Hon. Myles Kentworth LaRoda as Minister of National Security.
