RBDF involved in Multi- Agency Migrant Apprehension Defence Headquarters, 21 JAN. ‘22 (RBDF): In a multi-agency migrant apprehension operation, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Operation Bahamas and Turks and Caicos (OPBAT) worked in a coordinated operation to apprehend eighty-eight (88) migrants on Friday 21 January 2022.OPBAT reported the sighting of a Haitian Sloop 18nm west of Matthew Town, Inagua. Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ships, Nassau, and Leon Livingston Smith were contacted with this information and proceeded to the area to investigate. Resultantly, the vessel was apprehended with seventy-six (76) males and twelve (12) females. The migrants will be transported to Matthew Town, Inagua where they were handed over to Immigration officials on the island for further processing. The RBDF continues to make significant strides in Guarding Our Heritage.
