Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King attended an Investiture Ceremony conducted by Governor-General, His Excellency, the Most Honourable Sir Cornelius A. Smith and Chancellor of the Societies of Honour at Baha Mar Convention Centre on October 10, 2022.As a part of National Heroes Day, the presentation of awards spanned over two ceremonies throughout the day, because of the number of honourees. In total, nearly 200 Bahamians were honoured for their notable service and contributions towards nation-building. There were three (3) categories of honours which were awarded, including: The Order of The Bahamas, The Order of Distinction and The Order of Merit.Prime Minister, the Honourable Philip Davis, was the keynote speaker at both ceremonies and used the opportunity to identify some of the honourees, highlighting that each of them had a very unique story and contribution towards the development of Bahamian history and the country as we know it today.He also referenced the four Marines who lost their lives in the Flamingo Incident, calling them heroes for their bravery in the protection of our nation and suggested that as a people, we should lift up all Bahamians in gratitude for their courage in the shaping of our country.(Photos by RBDF Public Relations Section)
