The National Youth Guard initiative, spearheaded by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), successfully hosted a Refresher Training Course aboard HMBS Coral Harbour on Saturday, November 23, 2024. This initiative brought together participants from Cohorts 1, 2, and 3 to receive updated information and critical
training, reinforcing their roles in national preparedness and emergency response.
The training session was aimed to equip participants with fresh insights and practical reminders that align with the National Youth Guard’s overarching mission of fostering readiness, resilience, and community service. The comprehensive agenda included an introduction to DANA (Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis) and FEMA Emergency Management courses, ensuring participants remain equipped with the skills necessary for effective disaster response and recovery efforts.
The National Youth Guard remains committed to empowering young people with the tools and knowledge required to make meaningful contributions during emergencies. This refresher course is a critical part of ensuring that all members stay sharp, informed, and prepared for any scenario.
The training also emphasized collaboration, bringing together members from different cohorts to share experiences and insights, fostering a sense of unity and collective purpose. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, group discussions, and scenario-based activities designed to enhance their understanding and practical application of emergency management strategies.
