Defence Headquarters, October 19, 2023 (RBDF) – A cohort of 15 distinguished officers and marines from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) recently concluded the rigorous Advanced Fire Fighting Train the Trainer Certification Course. This comprehensive three-week firefighting training program was conducted from September 12 to September 29, 2023, aboard the HMBS Coral Harbour Base.
During this intensive training, RBDF personnel delved into a diverse curriculum, which covered crucial subjects, including fire safety, fire behavior, personal protective equipment (PPE), small equipment handling, building construction, ventilation techniques, forceable entry methods, pump operations, fire stream management, ropes and knots proficiency, among others. This training has equipped these dedicated officers and marines with the necessary skills to effectively respond to a wide spectrum of firefighting scenarios, spanning urban to wilderness environments.
In a practical application of their newly acquired knowledge, the training program incorporated a week of on-the-job skill demonstrations in collaboration with the Police Fire Branch Guard. This hands-on experience, conducted over a 24-hour watch period, occurred at both the Police Headquarters and the Cable Beach Branch, further solidifying the skills gained during the training. Chief Superintendent K. Morris, Head of the Police Branch, and ASP D. Ambrister provided invaluable oversight and leadership throughout the program, ensuring its seamless execution. Notably, the RBDF Fire and Rescue Department, under the leadership of Senior Lieutenant Adrian Stubbs, played a key role in coordinating and supporting this training effort. The training was conducted by a team of highly skilled trainers, including Sgt. Rahming, Corporal Hanna, and Corporal Dean, whose unwavering commitment to imparting essential firefighting knowledge and techniques played a pivotal role in the program’s outstanding success.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond E. King strive to cultivate a High-Performance Workforce focused on Performance Excellence, fostering an inclusive working environment that empowers our personnel.
