The second cohort of Senior Rates successfully completed the Petty Officer Leadership & Supervisory Management Course, culminating in a graduation ceremony held at Coral Harbour Base on December 2, 2024.

The intensive two-week program led by Chief Petty Officer Denise Oliver, was tailored to meet the needs of senior enlisted personnel, emphasizing excellence, integrity, and professionalism. Participants were equipped with cutting-edge leadership and supervisory skills critical for excelling in management roles within the Defence Force.

Through rigorous training, participants refined their competencies in key areas such as Ethics, Mentorship, and the Divisional System. Assessments were designed to ensure both theoretical understanding and practical application, challenging participants to exhibit leadership, maintain naval bearing, and demonstrate readiness to lead.

During the ceremony, Captain Michael Simmons delivered a compelling address, underscoring the importance of leadership by stating, “Everything starts and stops with leadership. As leaders, you are responsible for the welfare and discipline of your subordinates.”

Captain Simmons, joined by Training Officer Commander Byron Brown and other department heads, proudly presented certificates of completion to the graduates, marking their achievement.

This training aligns seamlessly with Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King’s vision of cultivating a workforce committed to performance excellence. By prioritizing continuous development, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of its personnel and empowering them to fulfill its mission.
