Prime Minister, the Honorable Philip Davis K.C. highlighted the significance of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force contributions to nation building, during his remarks at the organization’s Annual Church service on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Living Waters Kingdom Ministries, Warren Street.Under the theme, “Pursuit of Excellence as Guardians of Our Heritage, Nation Builders and Community Leaders”, the Officers and Marines, led by Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, used the occasion to give God thanks for another year. Prime Minister Davis reminded those in attendance that the pursuit of excellence is a journey that requires constant effort, sacrifice and dedication. He added that in supporting the organization as a community, we contribute to their ongoing success of their mission to safeguard our nation and the communities. He also encouraged all to seek inspiration from the Defence Force’s example and continue to uphold values that make the Bahamas an exceptional nation. In his remarks, Commodore King emphasized the organization’s strategic pillars which includes protectors and guardians of our national heritage, nation builders via the National Youth Development Programs, and as community leaders, using focused community relations programs in demonstrating corporate responsibility. He commended the officers and Marines who have answered the call to service and performed exemplary both locally and internationally. Because of their dedicated services, transitional criminal activities including the irregular movement and presence of migrants in the southern Bahamas have been successfully mitigated and deterred. Among those in attendance at the service were Governor General, His Excellency Cornelius A. Smith, the Minister of National Security, the Honorable Wayne Munroe KC, MP, Heads of Law Enforcement agencies, and representatives from the United States Embassy. After inspirational singing by a combined law enforcement choir, the Force Chaplain, Apostle Dr. Raymond Wells gave an uplifting sermon as he spoke on “The More Excellent Way”, encouraging the organization to maintain the standard in its pursuit of excellence in guarding the heritage of the Bahamas as nation builders and community leaders.
