Marines from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were instrumental in restoring a clean environment during a recent clean-up effort on a cay within a Marine Preserve Park. The team of over 100 recruits led by Sub Lieutenant Delroy Dennis, recently traveled to Warderick Wells–a cay within the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park–aboard the Defence Force’s auxiliary landing craft HMBS Lawrence Major under the command of Lieutenant Commander Milton Munroe. The Officer and Marines were able to remove large quantities of loose debris that had accumulated on the cay for many years. Also involved in the clean-up efforts were Park Wardens, Brent Burrows and David Maillus. Park Administrator Joseph Ierna expressed his gratitude to Commodore Tellis Bethel and his Officers and Marines for assisting in this venture.

“These cleanup measures help ease the pressure on the island and provide safe and clean working conditions for the staff and users of the island”, says Joseph Ierna Jr. Warderick Wells island Administrator.
