To promote continuous training and professional development within the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King conducted a Leadership and Management Seminar & Strategic Planning Symposium for Defence Force Marines which began March 2, 2022 at Coral Harbour Base.The seminar and symposium, under the theme: “Succession Planning: Developing and Training Future Leaders” is scheduled to be held during the entire month of March and is aimed at providing professional knowledge and valuable insight to newly promoted personnel.The three (3) day training will reinforce their understanding of leadership and management within the force and its format provides a forum which encourages beneficial discussions. Although the seminar is spread across four (4) weeks, each rate and rank will be afforded three (3) days of participation. Today’s session included four (4) sessions. In order, the presenters and their topics were as follows:• Commander Origin Deleveaux, RBDF Base Executive Officer (BXO) – “Organizational Behaviour Training/Development and Mentorship”• Ms. Tanisha Pinder, National Health Insurance Supervisor, Benefits & Enrollment Section – “National Health Insurance – An Overview of NHI”. • Captain Michael Simmons, RBDF Senior Executive Staff Officer – “Rules of Engagement” & “Use of Force Continuum”• and Captain Shawn Adderley, Staff Officer Legal Affairs – “Military Justice & the Royal Bahamas Defence Force”In the coming days and weeks, more Defence Force presenters are expected as well as representatives from various government ministries and the United States Embassy.
