Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) personnel from the Disaster Risk Management Unit recently gave back to the community with a presentation of over 100 food packages for the children of Gambier Primary School on Monday, 8th March 2021.

As part of Commander Defence Force’s strategic objective to strengthen relationships with stakeholders and the larger community, representatives from the unit, led by its Commanding Officer, Commander Sonia Miller, presented the items to the school.

The items which were packaged by RBDF Rangers and Governor General’s Youth Award (GGYA) participants, contained water, snacks, fruits, hand sanitizers in consideration of COVID-19 along with other small food items.

Sharing a few words, Commander Miller assured them that the Commander Defence Force is pleased to be a part of the ongoing relationship with the school. Receiving the packages at the school, was Principal, Mrs. Deloris Forbes, accompanied by her staff and students. She expressed their gratitude for the packages and also thanked the RBDF for their continued partnership over the years.

She noted that the packages will be helpful in connecting with the students and the surrounding community with kids enrolled, as they seek to create a sense of normalcy in the new learning environment.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to build and strengthen community relations, while still carrying out its mandate.
