Personnel from the Ministry of Tourism, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF), and the Port Department successfully completed the third installment of the Personal Watercraft Course, hosted by the RBDF Harbour Patrol Unit.
Under the guidance of Force Chief Petty Officer Mackey, the training emphasized inter-agency collaboration and preparedness on Bahamian waters. The course focused on operational procedures and safety protocols essential for the effective handling of personal watercraft.
Participants received expert instruction from Leading Seaman Dasmend Bowe, Able Seaman Phillip Hanna, and the Harbour Patrol Unit’s only female instructor, Able Woman Marine Myeisha Gibson, which highlights the growing representation of women in maritime leadership roles.
The RBDF is dedicated to the transformation of its personnel, in skills, quality and capabilities. This commitment is rooted in its efforts to produce a work environment focused on personal empowerment, high performance and professionalism.
The Harbour Patrol Unit remains committed to fostering maritime excellence through hands-on, scenario-based training designed to elevate the skill sets of public service professionals tasked with safeguarding The Bahamas’ waterways.
