In keeping with the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King’s strategic focus on talent management or the recognition and reward to deserving members for their contributions to the accomplishments of the Defence Force’s missions, four (4) marines were recognized as the Marines of the Quarter for the Harbour Patrol Unit, on November 2, 2021. During a brief awards ceremony at the Harbour Patrol facility, East Bay Street, Leading Seaman Dasmend Bowe, Able Seamen Ti’Aras Sears, and Wilton Brown III, and Marine Seaman Alcott McKinney were presented with plaques and certificates from Senior Lieutenant Byron McClain, Harbour Patrol Unit Commanding Officer. The Marines were awarded for their exceptional performances and contributions within the Unit throughout various quarters of 2020 and 2021. Simultaneously, Able Seaman Emilio Smith was recognized for his performance as Marine of the Month for the Commando Squadron Department, during a brief ceremony at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR. He was presented with a certificate from Captain Henry Daxon, Acting Captain Coral Harbour, and Senior Lieutenant Edward Fritz, Commanding Officer of the Commando Squadron Department. As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to encompass duties that call for a career of sacrifice, the organization says ‘Bravo Zulu’ to all Officers and Marines, who continue to safeguard the territorial integrity of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
