In its ongoing effort of developing a professional and high-performance workforce focused on rewarding excellence in the workplace consistent with the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent, the Commanding Officer and crew of Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship BAHAMAS, recognized two Marines for their outstanding performances during the year.

During a brief ceremony at the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s Headquarters, John F. Kennedy Drive on December 23, 2020, Able Mechanic Valentino Romer and Woman Marine Cyndera Parker were honored as the most outstanding engineer and seaman respectively for the craft. An energetic and efficient worker, Romer continues to perform his duties at a consistent level, and Parker has also shown extreme diligence and reliability in the various areas of the ship to which she has been assigned.

Presenting letters of commendation and certificates to the awardees was the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, accompanied by Senior Commander Chapell Whyms Commander of Operations; Commander Milton Munroe, Squadron Commanding Officer; Lieutenant Commander Valentino Rolle, Commanding Officer HMBS BAHAMAS, Senior Lieutenant Ruperthera Symonette, Executive Officer HMBS BAHAMAS and Force Chief Petty Officer Pedro Bain the Coxswain of the ship.

In congratulating both recipients on their achievements, Commodore King commended them for remarkable efforts, as they executed their duties despite the adversities and challenges throughout the year, and he encouraged them to remain professional at all times. While applauding Lieutenant Commander Rolle and his crew for rewarding the performances of individuals, the Commander Defence Force also thanked them for recognizing his strategic pillars of talent management.
