The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) held a memorial and final salute ceremony for the late Commodore Leon L. Smith, on Wednesday March 1, 2023, at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR Base. Force Chaplain, Apostle Raymond Wells led the parade in a prayer and time of reflection during morning colors, after which, a memorial service was held to pay tribute to the life and legacy of the first Bahamian Commodore to serve at the organization’s helm. In attendance were Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, members of the Executive Command Team, Officers, Marines and family members of the late Commodore Smith. The ceremony concluded with a military procession, at which time, the Honor Guard escorted Commodore Smith as he received a final salute by the Officers and Marines.Commodore Raymond King and the Officers and Marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force extend condolences to the family of Commodore Smith for his years of dedication to duty, and country.
