As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to enforce the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King’s strategic intent to enhance responsiveness to the security environment nationally and regionally, members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were recently recognized along with volunteers from the various communities and organizations for their relentless efforts during the passage of Hurricane Dorian.

During a service of appreciation for the volunteers of Hurricane Dorian at Calvary Temple Assemblies of God Church, Freeport, Grand Bahamas on Thursday, June 24, 2021, the RBDF personnel were among many organizations to receive certificates of appreciation for their acts of kindness shown before, during and after the storm in 2019.

The service was a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness, Management and Reconstruction, and the Grand Bahama Disaster Consultative Committee. Receiving the certificate on behalf of the RBDF Commanding Officer for the NORTHERN COMMAND, Senior Commander Frederick Brown, was Chief Petty Officer Raquel Forbes.

In attendance were the Honourable Iram Lewis, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Honourable Michael Pintard, Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources, and the Honourable Pakeisha Parker-Edgecombe, who brought remarks. She thanked and commended those in attendance for their efforts, as the island recovers from the devastation.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to support partner agencies and civic organizations in the building up of the community, as it safeguards and protects the territorial integrity of The Bahamas.
