Defence Headquarters, 08 JUNE. ‘23 (RBDF): On the Road to 50 Celebrations, The Royal Bahamas Defence Force held its Pre-Independence Celebration under the patronage of Commander Defence Force for Officers, Marines and invited guest on Friday, July 07, 2023 at HMBS Coral Harbour.
The event featured a cake cutting ceremony conducted in military custom, in which the youngest Marine and the Minister of National Security cut the ceremonial cake. In addition, there were a variety of and Bahamian breakfast, musical performances by the RBDF Band and Reuben Deleveaux ‘Ruppa Pumpum’, concluding with a Junkanoo Rush Out.
Bringing remarks on behalf of the Government was the Minister of National Security, the Honorable Wayne Munroe, KC, MP. He expressed his pleasure in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s ability to carry out its primary missions, and stand ready to assist in times of disaster, living up to. He congratulated the members for their dedicated services over the years and highlighted the contributions of the men and women, as envisioned by the late Sir Lyden Oscar Pindling.
“Not only do you discharge your primary mission of securing our borders and guarding our heritage in poaching, migrant and arm smuggling, but you stand ready to assist in natural disasters, even as simple as the flooding in Exuma recently”.
He also commended the Commander Defence Force on his intervention efforts in regard to the nation’s youth, restating his Government’s commitment to show the respect and care the institution has earned and deserves.
