DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS, 8 MAY. ‘23 (RBDF): Scores of enthusiastic parents and loved ones showed their support for 300 graduates at the Passing Out Ceremony for the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Ranger’s training program in Nassau at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Minister of National Security, The Honorable Wayne Munroe K.C. brought brief remarks in which he congratulated the newly installed Cadets, encouraging them to take advantage of the many opportunities afforded through the program. He also highlighted the great response the program has had with youths and how he wishes to see many of them in the near future as recruits in The Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
Presenting special awards and certificates to the Cadets for their outstanding performance and achievements were the Minister of National Security, The Honorable Wayne Munroe K.C. accompanied by the Minister of Education, The Honorable Glenys Hanna-Martin and Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King.
The Minister of National Security Award was presented to Stephon Walkes. The Commander Defence Force Academic Achievement Award was presented to Jenae Fritz, Vejay Meadows, Haley Deveaux, Kevin Williams, Eric Bodie Jr, Dakari Joseph, Isis Guillaume, Carleicia Colebrooke and Kharys Bodie and the Rangers Director Award was presented to Haley Deveaux.
Amongst those in attendance were Deputy Commander Defence Force, Captain Shonedel Pinder, Captain Coral Harbour Captain Glenn McPhee, Rangers Executive Officer Force Chief Clephane Bain, Rangers Operations Senior Rate, Chief Petty Officer Chief Dwight Rolle and Retired Force Chief Fredricka King.
In effort to promote nation building and youth development, the Commander of the Defence Force regards the Ranger program as a “necessity of developing a cadre of young leaders endowed with character, discipline and a sense of national duty”.
