The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) joined the nation in honouring the life and legacy of the late Dr. Norman Rupert Gay, former Cabinet Minister and Parliamentarian, during a State Recognized Funeral Service on Friday, October 17, 2025.
The ceremony brought together national leaders and dignitaries, including Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Cynthia A. Pratt, Governor General, The Hon. Philip Edward Davis KC, MP Prime Minister, parliamentarians, and civil society reflecting the lasting impact of Dr. Gay’s service to The Bahamas.
In his tribute, Prime Minister Davis described Dr. Gay as a man who pursued excellence beyond competition, embodying integrity, humility, and selfless leadership. He reminded the nation that “service done well is its own reward,” and that Dr. Gay gave more than he took, leaving a standard worthy of emulation.
Captain Natasha Miller, Deputy Commander Defence Force extended condolences on behalf of the Commander Defence Force Commodore Floyd Moxey, noting Dr. Gay’s legacy of service, humility, and nation building continues to inspire the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force stands with the family and the Bahamian people in mourning the passing of Dr. Gay. His enduring legacy of leadership, compassion, and patriotic service will continue to guide and inspire future generations.
