In commemoration of 38 years as an official entity, the Senior Enlisted personnel of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) hosted the RBDF Anniversary Reception under the patronage of the Commander Defence Force at the Defence Force Base on 5th April, 2018.(Photos Below)

In attendance were the Minister of National Security, the Honorable Marvin Dames, and Commander Defence Force Commodore Tellis Bethel, Executive Team members, Senior Officers, and Marines of the Quarter, along with retired Veterans and invited guests.

In his remarks at the well-attended event, the Minister of National Security commended the President of the Warrant Officers and Senior Rates Mess, Petty Officer Rory Adams, and Mess Officers and members for hosting and facilitating the event under the patronage of the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Tellis Bethel.

The Honourable Minister also thanked Commodore Bethel, his Executive Team and the Officers and Marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force for their hard work and numerous accomplishments over the past year. As the Defence Force forges forward, Minister Dames assured the men and women of his government’s support and commitment to the success of the organization.

It was on March 31, 1980 that the passing of the Defence Act in Parliament cemented the birth of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. The Defence Force has since grown from about 200 persons in 1980 to a strength of over 1500 Officers and Marines. As the evening wore on, the crowd was entertained by the Defence Force’s dance band and specially invited guest artist, Geno-D.
