In keeping with the Commander Defence Force Commodore Dr. Raymond King’s strategic objective for Decentralization, the Commanding Officer for the RBDF’s SOUTHERN COMMAND, Captain Glenn McPhee recently conducted a tour of HMBS MATTHEW TOWN and Great Inagua.

During a five-day tour from Monday 15 February through Friday 19 February 2021, Captain McPhee inspected the base facility to ensure that equipment and personnel are maintaining the highest standard of naval discipline and bearing. Captain McPhee along with RBDF Chaplain, Reverend Prince Bodie, also conducted a Sexual Harassment Awareness Training for the Deployment Team.

Following a Reconnaissance Patrol Flight with the U.S. Coast Guard/OPBAT across the southeastern Bahamas, Captain McPhee made courtesy calls on Mr. Marlon Leary, the Island’s Administrator and on Superintendent Walter Henderson, Royal Bahamas Police Force Officer in charge of the Inagua District.

Captain McPhee also visited the Inagua All-Age School, where he paid a courtesy call on the school’s Principal Mrs. Nishgo Bain-Collie, and presented copies of his book, “The Marine Recruit’s Guide Second Edition” for the School’s library. There, he observed RBDF marines assisting the students with Music, Electrical, and Electronics classes in preparation for National Examinations.

While at Matthew Town, Captain McPhee toured The Bahamas Maritime Surveillance System along with Senior Commander, Carlon Bethel, RBDF Communications Branch Commander, and joined a routine patrol aboard the Patrol Craft P-127, Coxswained by Chief Petty Officer Ronnie Neymour.

As he concluded his tour, Captain McPhee reiterated the SOUTHERN COMMAND’S Mission: To ensure continuity of administration, operations, and logistical support for all RBDF missions originating, transiting through, or around the southern Bahamas.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to the pursuit of excellence as the Officers and Marines continue to Guard our Heritage.
