The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) hosted its highly anticipated 4th Annual Flag Football Tournament on Friday, March 29, 2025, at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium. This exciting event, which wrapped up the month-long March Fitness Month celebrations, saw fierce competition and impressive athleticism from participants across several government organizations.
Since its inception in 2019, the RBDF Flag Football Tournament has expanded its reach by inviting other government agencies to join in the friendly but intense competition. This year, the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF), the Department of Immigration, and the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services all sent teams to compete alongside the RBDF.
The highlight of this year’s tournament was the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s dominating victory over the Royal Bahamas Defence Force team. The RBPF emerged as the champion yet again, leaving the RBDF team in their wake with an impressive score of 33 to 17. This marks the second consecutive year that the RBPF has claimed the championship title in the annual event. In addition to the team accolades, individual performances were also recognized. Charles Williams was awarded Most Excited Male Player, while Sinae Neeley was named Most Excited Female Player. Sgt. Drexel Russell was honored with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in recognition of his remarkable performance, leadership, and athleticism on the field.
The event is part of the RBDF’s ongoing efforts to foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the nation’s security forces. It aligns with the Commander Defence Force’s strategic objectives, which emphasize physical fitness, mental well-being, and the importance of maintaining strong inter-agency relationships.
Deputy Commander Defence Force Captain Shondell Pinder and Training Officer Commander Byron Brown presented the championship trophy to the winning team, the RBPF. Both officers congratulated the team on their outstanding performance, praising their teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Captain Pinder stated he is proud of the efforts put forth by all participants in this year’s tournament . This event not only encourages fitness and healthy competition but also strengthens the bond between our forces. We look forward to building on this tradition in the years to come.
