In keeping with Commander Defence Force’s vision of community relations and the spirit of Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving luncheons were hosted by the Captains within the Force at various satellite bases. Deputy Commander Defence Force, Captain Shonedel Pinder, and Captain Southern Command, Glenn McPhee joined the teams in Matthew Town, Inagua where there were presentations made to the Marine of the quarter, Leading Mechanic Abrian Rankine, and lunch was served by the officers to the troops on the ground. The Deputy Commander Defence Force and Captain Southern Command proceeded to Gun Point, Ragged Island to visit the troops on the ground and serve lunch there. Deputy Commander Defence Force relayed thanksgiving sentiments to the troops on behalf of Commander Defence Force and encouraged them to remain motivated as he thanked them for their sacrifice of servitude while being away from their families. In Grand Bahama, Senior Executive Staff Officer, Captain Philip Clarke spent the day with Commander Natasha Miller, Commanding Officer of the Grand Bahama satellite base and the troops on the ground there as they served lunch to the troops stationed in Grand Bahama. Staff and Legal Affairs Officer, Captain Shawn Adderley spent the day in Abaco with the RBDF Detachment team at Marsh Harbour Abaco under the Command of Lieutenant Commander Gordon Roberts. Presentations of $100.00 gift cards totaling $1,200.00 redeemable at Maxwells Food Store were made to several residents in the Abaco community. These persons included:- Samdaye Dames, Virginia Russell, Judy Curry, Valerie Hardy, Beverly Davis, Leotha McDonald, Pauline Sawyer, Bernice Brown, Maisie Moss, and James Williams. In addition to the gift cards, with the assistance of the Administrator at Central Abaco Mr. Donald Rolle, a generator was presented to Mrs. Valerie Hardy. Also, the recipients were treated to a scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner prepared by Defence Force Chefs Petty Officer Ian Graham, Marine Seamen Darren Forbes, and Keanue Saunders, Force Chief Petty Officer (retired) Peterson James was also present at the event. Captain Adderley assisted with the presentations and enjoyed Thanksgiving lunch with the team.
