The Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King has taken a proactive approach to strengthening the Defence Force’s role of women in the military. As such, he appointed Commander Judy McDonald to serve as the Acting Base Executive Officer during the period 8 -18 August 2024, affording her the opportunity to serve as the first female Authorized Officer to adjudicate Summary Trials.
The appointment is reflective of our Gender Optimization Policy, a key priority of the Commander Defence Force, who strives to ensure equal opportunities through administration, training, advancements & promotions, recognition, career paths and succession planning.
The policy, along with our support for the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, are testaments to our dedication to creating an inclusive and empowered environment. The priority should inspire and reinvigorate women within the organization, urging them to take ownership of their empowerment and strive for greater success.

Commander McDonald’s career expands more than 33-years across various departments: Squadron, Staff Intelligence, Training, Headquarters, and Administration. She currently holds the appointment as Commander Administration and Reserves Officer.
