The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) proudly recognized the successful completion of its Military Dive Course and Inaugural Technical Dive Course during a recent Awards Ceremony highlighting the dedication, professionalism, and operational readiness of several marines and mechanics.
The Military Dive Course provided participants with intensive instructions in dive physics, dive medicine, and SCUBA procedures. Due to the hazardous nature of underwater operations, the courses maintained rigorous physical fitness standards with a strong emphasis on diver safety while operating at depths reaching approximately 130 feet.
The Technical Dive Course was implemented to bridge the operational gap between engineering specialists and qualified divers. The course focused on hull and propulsion inspections, general underwater maintenance, and still and motion video graphics documentation. Graduates of the course are now authorized to conduct dives from RBDF vessels to depths of 130 feet, enabling them to effectively carry out essential engineering and maintenance duties. This marks the first inaugural Technical Dive Course conducted by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
The following marines successfully completed the Military Dive Course:
• Able Seaman De’Joan Sturrup
• Able Seaman Aaron Deleveaux
