United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guiterez visited Abaco on September 14, 2019 to view the hurricane damaged island. Also traveling with him was the Honorable Darren Henfield, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Immigration, Mr. Jack Thompson, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Captain Stephen Russell, Director of NEMA and other Government Officials.

While on the island, the delegates also met with Commander Frederick Brown and the RBDF personnel attached to the island during the hurricane relief efforts. The contingent was taken on an a tour on board an aircraft provided by the Netherlands Naval vessel to get a visual view of the damages, as well as further access and assist with the disaster relief efforts.
