As the organization continues to enforce the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent of focusing on organizational sustainment and national youth development, Professor Edward Howard, Assistant Director of Bands at Alabama State University, paid a courtesy call at the Defence Headquarters on July 1, 2021.
The purpose of the visit was to establish a partnership between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Alabama State University, to encourage students to take advantage of scholarship opportunities. Opportunities to students’ musicians to further educate themselves in the concentration of their major discipline was also made possible.
Also in attendance were Chief Superintendent Mark Barrette, Assistant Superintendent Theodore Campbell of the Proactive Policing Program, and Captain Shawn Adderley, Executive Command Staff Officer. Following the exchange, the guests had the opportunity to visit HMBS CORAL HARBOUR, where they had a productive meeting with the RBDF Training Officer, Lieutenant Commander Origin Deleveaux.
Professor Edward Howard visited Eleuthera, where he presented two full band-scholarships in the amount of thirteen thousand, three hundred dollars ($13,300) a year, for four years to RBDF Rangers students, Colby and Chandler Mullin, of the Samuel Guy All-Age School, Spanish Wells, Eleuthera.
As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force patrols and protect the territorial integrity of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the organization also focuses on nation-building for the younger generation.
