CARIFTA gold medalist Charis Edgecombe, accompanied by her parents, Ramona Edgecombe and Chief Petty Officer Charles Edgecombe of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, paid a courtesy call on Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, at Defence Headquarters, Ministry of National Security, on December 16, 2024.

Commodore King joined by his wife, Force Chief Petty Officer Fredreka King (Retired), and Command Warrant Officer, Force Chief Petty Officer Ramone Storr honoured Charis and her team for achieving a historic milestone in the inaugural Caribbean Gymnastics Championship at the CARIFTA Games.

Charis began her gymnastics journey at the age of four and won her first medal at the age of five. She has since represented The Bahamas on the international stage, achieving numerous successes in competitive gymnastics.

Commodore King extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the Officers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, commending Charis for her outstanding performance at the CARIFTA Gymnastics Championships, where she earned two silver medals and one gold. He encouraged her to persevere, stay motivated, and continue striving for excellence in all her endeavours.

Mrs. King also congratulated Charis and shared an inspiring message, advising her to always keep a motivational quote or scripture close to her heart for strength and guidance. Additionally, Force Chief Petty Officer Ramone Storr conveyed congratulations on behalf of all Warrant Officers and Marines, applauding her dedication and remarkable achievements.

Under the command of Commodore Raymond King, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to supporting and celebrating the accomplishments of youth who are pioneers for generations of Bahamians.
