Defence Headquarters, 20 JAN ‘25 (RBDF): Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, attended a special sitting of the Court of Appeal at The British Colonial Hilton Hotel Ballroom on Monday, January 20, 2025. The session marked a special occasion as Justice Jon Isaacs officially announced his retirement, and Justice Milton Evans was named as the incoming President of the Court of Appeal.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Philip Davis, the Hon. Alfred Sears, and the Leader of the Opposition, Michael Pintard, along with distinguished members of the judiciary and legal fraternity. The sitting celebrated the career of Justice Isaacs, who has served the Bahamian judicial system with distinction, and ushered in a new chapter under the leadership of Justice Evans.
Justice Isaacs, in his farewell address, reflected on his years of service and expressed confidence in the leadership of his successor. Justice Evans, who has earned a stellar reputation for his judicial expertise and integrity, thanked attendees for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the Court of Appeal remains a pillar of justice.
The presence of the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, and other key dignitaries highlighted the importance of the judiciary in maintaining the democratic framework of The Bahamas.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force extends its congratulations to Justice Milton Evans and thanks to Justice Jon Isaac for his outstanding service to the nation .
