In a continued demonstration of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s (RBDF) commitment to the welfare and morale of its members, the Chaplaincy Office made a heartfelt donation to Leading Seaman Alamando Smith on August 7, 2024, at HMBS Coral Harbour Base.
Apostle Raymond Wells, Chaplain of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, accompanied by Senior and Junior Enlisted members of the Chaplaincy Office, presented the donation to Leading Seaman Smith during a time of significant personal challenge. Earlier this year, Leading Seaman Smith faced devastating circumstances, prompting the Chaplaincy Office to rally together in support of his rebuilding efforts.
This act of kindness was part of an ongoing series of initiatives aimed at supporting Leading Seaman Smith. On June 10, 2024, Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, alongside Force Chief Petty Officer (Retired) Fredrika King from the Family Support Organization, met with Leading Seaman Smith at RBDF Headquarters. The meeting marked the success of a fire relief drive orchestrated by the RBDF’s Morale, Welfare & Recreation Unit, which garnered substantial support from Smith’s peers, particularly those in the Harbour Patrol Unit.
Leading Seaman Smith, a dedicated marine with twenty years of service, has exemplified discipline and hard work throughout his career. His service in various departments—including Commando Squadron, Transportation, Military Police Force and Protection, and the Harbour Patrol Unit—has earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. The generous contributions and support extended to him reflect the unity and camaraderie that define the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
During the recent presentation, Apostle Wells emphasized the Chaplaincy Office’s commitment to being a supportive presence within the organization, ensuring that all Marines feel cared for and valued, especially in times of need. This sentiment echoes the RBDF’s broader dedication to the well-being of its serving members and veterans alike.
Under the leadership of Commodore Raymond E. King, The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains steadfast in its mission to foster a supportive environment, demonstrating through actions like these that the welfare and morale of its members are of paramount importance.
