Defence Headquarters, 12 JUNE. ‘23 (RBDF): Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond E. King, accompanied by his Aide de Camp Lieutenant Commander Delvonne Duncombe, travelled to Montego Bay, Jamaica to participate in the Caribbean Nations Security Conference (CANSEC) 2023 from the 5 to 9 June.

The conference under the theme “Strengthening Regional Security through Informed Action” and was co-hosted by Jamaica Defence Force Chief of Defence Rear Admiral Antonette Wemyss Gorman and US General Laura Richardson, Commander of US Southern Command.

The purpose of the conference was to provide a suitable platform for key security leaders to discuss security challenges within the Caribbean such as transnational crimes, climate change and cyber security. The conference allowed for a shared framework that aided in the understanding of common threats and strengthening of partnerships between the Caribbean and the United States to align and solidify regional support to address these issues.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to fostering relationships with regional and international partners that will aid in improved security measures throughout the region.
